7-Eleven Wants to Buy Casey's General Stores

The Wall Street Journal reports that 7-Eleven has offered $40 a share to acquire Casey's General Stores Inc. 7-Eleven outbid an offer from Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc., a Canada-based convenience store company. The Wall Street Journal says Casey's and 7-Eleven have entered talks even though Casey's thinks 7-Eleven's offer is too low.
Iowa-based Casey's said on Tuesday it had received an unsolicited, nonbinding offer on Sept. 2 from an unnamed party and it was entering into talks-even though Casey's deemed the $40-per-share bid too low to complete a deal. Those discussions are in the early stages, people familiar with the matter said, despite the price being too low to complete a transaction. Casey's and 7-Eleven declined to comment.
The WSJ says there are roughly 6,000 7-Eleven stores and 1,500 Casey's stores in the U.S. There is a major difference in where the stores are located. Most Casey's stores are rural and most 7-Eleven stores are in urban areas. This could help make the two convience store companies a good match. The could merge without having to worry much about overlapping locations.

Under Armour Targets Female Athletes With I Will Campaign

Brandweek reports that Under Armour has launched a campaign to attract more female athletes to the brand. The campaign includes a 60-second commercial, called "I Will," that stars top female athletes, including Lindsey Vonn, Lauren Cheney and Monica Hargrove. Take a look:

Video: Rough Seas Hit a Luxury Cruise Ship

This is some amazing video footage from the luxury cruise ship P&O Australia's Pacific Sun that sailed into a freak storm off the coast of New Zealand. A stationary camera shows how violently the ship was tossed around -- the furniture and passengers go sliding back and forth across the room. 48 people were injured and the cruise ship offered them vouchers for another trip as compensation. Norwegian Electronics Store Website Called Ugliest Site on the Internet

The online store at Arngren.net is being billed as the ugliest site on the Internet. Time says that website is apparently a Norwegian miniatures store. It looks like the store with the crazy design carries a range of electronics and remote control devices.

The Internet should not be so hard on Arngren. It is not an attractive design, but it does allow users to view a lot of items at one time. The design is also not nearly as bad as the Yvette's Bridal Formal website.

Changing London: Black Cabs Giving Way to Mercedes Vans

Red telephone booths, double decker buses and traditional black cabs are the sights one expects to see when visiting London. But times are changing and the traditional black cab is losing market share to Mercedes Benz which is winning over cab drivers with its luxurious, modern van. The traditional black cabs still have 75% of the market, but the maker of the cars says sales are down 13%. In another ten years, they may be a minority on London's streets. The WSJ reports:

Australia's Miss Universe Contestant Jesinta Campbell Alleges Sabotage

Australia's Miss Universe contestant Jesinta Campbell is claiming her national costume for the Miss Universe competition was sabotaged. Jesinta told The Daily Telegraph that she felt three sharp pains in her back when she put on her national costume. She later found three pins stuck in the the ridiculous outfit.
"I put it on just before I was due to go out on parade but I felt these sharp pains when something stuck into my back," Campbell said yesterday.

"I took the top off and found all these pins had been stuck into it. I didn't have any injuries or marks but I didn't have much time to take them out and get it back on because I had to be out there right away."
Jessinta is not sure which one of the 82 Miss Universe contestants stuck pins into her costume, but she is sure it was not Ireland, Belgium, Britain and Guam, because those girls are her friends. Maybe Donald Trump will launch an investigation.

At a breakfast meeting in honor of the newest season of America's Next Top Model, Tyra Banks and Andre Leon Talley answered questions from the audience. In this clip the dynamic duo explain how to take a good photo and how to pose on the red carpet. Tyra's demonstration of how to pose on the red carpet is hilarious. She says you must practice at home in front of a full-length mirror over and over until you find the post that makes you look the best. Then you strike that pose on the red carpet and don't move out of it, even as you scuttle sideways in front of the row of photographers.

They both hate the classic actress pose, in which the legs are crossed in front. They call it the "I have to go to the bathroom pose." These two should go on the road together. Take a look:

Payless Double-Decker Bus Brings Models to Fashion's Night Out

The Payless-sponsored Official Ride of Fashion's Night Out arrived at last night's Fashion's Night Out: The Show. The double-decker bus was transporting some of the world's most famous super models. Payless will be participating in FNO on September 10th, with a meet-and-greet event at its Lexington & 58th St. store that will be hosted by the retailer's Guest Designers - Isabel Toledo, Christian Siriano, Lela Rose and Patricia Field. Seth Aaron Unveils His Futuristic Solar Panel Inspired Fashion Collection

Project Runway Season 7 winner Seth Aaron Henderson unveiled his chic futuristic runway collection for Portland Fashion Week. Seth Aaron's collection was inspired by SolarWorld's black solar panel. The collection hits the runway on October 9 at Portland Fashion Week, a sustainable fashion event. The high-tech runway for the show will be built using SolarWorld's black solar panels.

"The first look really captures my first impression when we walked onto the floor of the SolarWorld factory," Seth Aaron said. "It's been interesting to see how one piece branches from the last. This will be a fun mix of fantasy and 'wearability,' hardness and softness - pieces that take concept and costume and connect them with reality. It's an artistic story about solar power and renewable energy. But, as it should be, it's a fashion story, a fashion collection."

Jennifer Aniston to Guest Star on Cougar Town

Two Friends stars will be together on tv screens again this year. Jennifer Aniston will be be guest starring on Cougar Town, which stars Courteney Cox. Cougar Town was a hit for ABC last year. The episode with Jennifer Aniston will air September 22nd at 9:30 p.m. on ABC.

San Francisco's Homeless Upset at Increased McDonald's Prices

Some McDonald's customers, including homeless people, are outraged that a local McDonald's in San Francisco raised value menu prices from 99 cents per item to $1.49 per item. While $1.49 is still cheap for a menu item, the price increase is nearly a 51% increase. McDonald's website does list items that cost a dollar here. Natalie Gonzales, the franchise owner, told the San Francisco Chronicle, that she believes the $1.49 prices are still a good value. She said, "This was a business decision based on a number of contributing factors. And while these items are no longer available at $1, they are still available at what I believe to be a good, everyday value." Take a look:

Video: Angelina Jolie and Sanjay Gupta Discuss Pakistan Disaster

Angelina Jolie is in Pakistan and she talked with CNN's Dr.Sanjay Gupta about the massive disaster there because of the flooding.

Angelina says that scope of the disaster is difficult to describe to viewers. She said if you think about New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, there are many similarities. So much has to be done to clean up the devastation before any rebuilding could begin. She talks about how her role has changed as a special ambassador for the UNHCR. At first she didn't speak to the press at all. As she studied and learned more over the years, she was given more responsibility and now meets with top officials and politicians. Her role has become a little more political, in the sense of being an advocate for the displaced.

Sanjay asked her if she talks to friends and family about what she sees when she goes on these trips. She says she talks to Brad and he always wants to know as much as he can about these issues and has been to Pakistan with her. She thought more and then laughed and said, "I don't know. I don't have a lot of friends I talk to ...he's really the only person I talk to. But I tell my children why I was going, and I explain to them -- they'd see the news -- why I was packing flashlights and food. They help me pack things. It helps them to be better people to understand a little bit about the world." Take a look:

Google Launches Google Instant

Google has launched a new version of its search engine, Google Instant, that provides dynamic search results as you type in your search query. Google Instant also tries to predict the rest of your query (in light gray text) before you finish typing. You can also scroll through predictions and see results instantly for each as you arrow down. Google says that by predicting your search and showing results before you finish typing, Google Instant can save users 2-5 seconds per search. Take a look:

The Tim Gunn book tour continues with a hilarious appearance on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Jon wanted to talk about the Anna Wintour being carried down the stairs incident (of course) and then he wanted to know where he could hire her enablers, because the stairs are really steep at Comedy Central. Tim exposes many instances of diva behavior in the fashion industry in his new book, and says that Conde Nast is "aberrant" and that it "would be well-served to stock up on straightjackets." Stars Walk the Red Carpet for the Season Two Premiere of Glee

The stars of Glee hit the red carpet for the premiere of season two of the hit show. Dianna Agron nicely summed up season one for the cameras, and looked fab doing it. Lea Michele was rocking some seriously dark plum lipstick which we really liked. It looked similar to Tom Ford's Moroccain Rouge. Matthew Morrison says his character Will is in a bad place, but will give it his all to get the Glee Club back on track this season. Designer Giorgio Armani won the designer of the year award at the 13th annual GQ Men of the Year Awards in London. Jason Statham won an Editor's Special Award and Dizzee Rascal won Best Solo Artist. The only female award was given to actress Gemma Arterton who was named Woman of the Year title. Video: Behind the Scenes at Britney Spears Candie's Photoshoot

Candie's released some unseen footage from Britney Spears' photoshoot for the brand earlier in the year. Candie's built three separate stages for the shoots: each photographer had his or her own stage and team to work with for hair and makeup. In this video we see Britney's shoots with Terry Richardson (who is on his best behavior since he is being filmed -- he was going to shake hands with Britney before she hugged him) -- and Annie Leibovitz. Video: Rare Amur Black Leopard Cub Makes His Debut

An extremely rare Amur black leopard cub was a tad grumpy during a routine medical exam at the Serengeti Safari Park in the northern German village of Hodenhagen. The male cub was born on June 13th. His name is Paulchen Panther. The black Amur Leopard is an endangered animal; there are only 34 of them in the wild and 230 in zoos around the world. Isn't he adorable?
